Unleash Your Engineering Creativity: QTSABS-GF – Born for Strength and Precision

Are you tired of the warping anddimensional instability issues associated with standard ABS printing? QTS nowbrings you a revolutionary solution: the ABS-GF Glass Fiber Reinforced 3DPrinter Filament.

We have infused high-quality ABS resin withprecisely chopped glass fibers to create an engineering-grade filament thatboasts ultra-high rigidity, exceptional impact toughness, and superior heatresistance. Compared to traditional ABS, ABS-GF represents a quantum leapin both mechanical properties and print stability, elevating your 3D printsfrom mere models to durable, functional components.

Choose QTS ABS-GF?

✦ Exceptional Mechanical Strength & Rigidity: The addition of glass fiber significantly boosts the tensile strength and flexural modulus, making prints strong enough to handle high-load structural parts and demanding engineering applications.
✦ Dramatically Improved Dimensional Stability: Effectively lowers the material's shrinkage rate, substantially reducing warping and cracking, especially on large or complex models. Your final parts will be more dimensionally accurate.
✦ Enhanced Heat Resistance: With a heat deflection temperature significantly higher than pure ABS, your parts can maintain structural integrity in hotter working environments without softening or deforming.
✦ Superior Impact & Wear Resistance: Combining the toughness of ABS with the hardness of glass fiber, the final parts are not only durable and wear-resistant but also possess outstanding impact strength.
✦ Exquisite Matte Finish: The glass fibers impart a unique, subtle matte texture to the print surface, which effectively hides layer lines and gives your work a more professional and refined appearance.

Applications

• Functional Prototypes & Test Parts: Rapidly verify designs by creating prototypes that can withstand real-world stress testing.

• Jigs & Fixtures: Manufacture robust and durable alignment blocks, clamps, and holders for production lines or workshops.

• Automotive & Mechanical Parts: Print heat-resistant, wear-resistant non-critical automotive components, machine housings, gears, or brackets.

• Electronic Enclosures: Leverage its rigidity and dimensional stability to create precise and durable electronic housings and protective cases.

• Drone & RC Model Components: Offers a perfect balance of lightweight and high stiffness, suitable for airframe structural parts.

Important Notes

• Abrasiveness: This filament contains glass fibers, which are highly abrasive to standard brass nozzles and extruder gears. It is mandatory to use a hardened steel nozzle or a more wear-resistant equivalent.

• Moisture Management: Like standard ABS, ABS-GF is hygroscopic. To ensure the best print quality, please store unused filament in a sealed, dry environment. If the filament becomes damp, we recommend drying it at 80°C for 4-6 hours.

• Ventilation: Printing with ABS-based materials can produce some fumes. It is recommended to operate the printer in a well-ventilated area.

Tips :

Tips for Successful Printing with ABS-GFFilament

Encountering nozzle clogs when printingwith ABS Glass Fiber (ABS-GF) filament? This is a common challenge withcomposite materials. The added glass fibers, while providing excellent strengthand heat resistance, are abrasive and can accumulate inside the nozzle.

Follow these expert recommendations toensure smooth, reliable, and high-quality prints.

1. Essential Hardware Upgrades

Standard brass nozzles will wear outquickly. Upgrading your hardware is the most critical step for printing withabrasive materials like ABS-GF.

  • Use a Hardened Steel Nozzle (Mandatory): This is non-negotiable. Glass fibers will rapidly abrade softer metals like brass. A hardened steel nozzle is highly resistant to wear and is essential for long-term printing success.
  • Switch to a Larger Nozzle Diameter: To prevent fiber particles from jamming the nozzle orifice, we strongly recommend switching from a standard 0.4mm nozzle to a 0.6mm nozzle. This provides more clearance for the fibers to pass through, significantly reducing the risk of clogging.
  • Ensure Efficient Hotend Cooling: Verify that your hotend's cooling fan is functioning correctly. Poor cooling can lead to "heat creep," where heat travels up the heat break and softens the filament prematurely, causing it to jam before reaching the melt zone.

2. Optimized Slicer Settings

Fine-tuning your slicer settings is key toachieving a smooth and consistent extrusion flow.

  • Increase Printing Temperature: ABS-GF requires a higher printing temperature than standard ABS to ensure the base material melts completely and flows smoothly with the glass fibers. Start with the manufacturer's recommended temperature and try increasing it by 5-10°C. A typical range is 240-270°C.
  • Reduce or Disable Part Cooling Fan: ABS is sensitive to rapid cooling, which can cause warping and cracking. For ABS-GF, it's best to set your part cooling fan speed between 0% and 20%. This helps maintain a stable nozzle temperature and prevents the material from solidifying too quickly at the tip.
  • Lower Retraction Speed and Distance: Aggressive retractions can pull semi-molten fibers into the cold zone, where they solidify and cause a clog. We recommend reducing your retraction speed to 20-25 mm/s and shortening the retraction distance to 1-2 mm.
  • Decrease Print Speed: A slower print speed allows the filament more time to melt properly in the hotend, ensuring a consistent and reliable extrusion.

3. Best Practices for Operation andEnvironment

A stable printing environment and properfilament handling are crucial for success.

  • Use an Enclosure: Printing inside an enclosure maintains a stable ambient temperature. This minimizes warping, reduces the risk of cracking, and helps keep the nozzle temperature consistent, further preventing clogs.
  • Keep Your Filament Dry: Both ABS and glass fibers are hygroscopic (they absorb moisture from the air). Wet filament will create steam bubbles in the nozzle, leading to poor extrusion, stringing, and clogs. Always dry your ABS-GF filament in a dedicated filament dryer for 4-6 hours before printing.
  • Perform Regular Maintenance:
  • Cold Pulls: Periodically use nylon or a specialized cleaning filament to perform a "cold pull." This is an effective way to remove any residual carbonized plastic and fiber debris from inside the nozzle.
  • Nozzle Cleaning: While the nozzle is hot, carefully use an appropriately sized acupuncture needle to clear any minor blockages at the nozzle tip.

By following these guidelines—especially byusing a 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle—you will dramatically improve yourprinting success rate with ABS-GF filament. Happy printing
