Four Core Advantages
🔥

Ultra-Clean Burnout

The soul of a castable resin. The wax-filled formula completely vaporizes during burnout, leaving zero residue — fundamentally eliminating porosity, defects, and detail loss in castings.

📐

High Precision & Low Shrinkage

Whether delicate prong settings or complex bridge frameworks, low shrinkage ensures printed prototypes match your digital design with micron-level accuracy.

Smooth Casting Surface

The wax-filled formula creates smoother investment mold walls, resulting in cleaner metal casting surfaces — significantly reducing post-casting polishing time and effort.

Professional Process Guidance

Detailed burnout schedule recommendations with clear critical notes on washing and post-curing — guiding every professional step from printing to casting to maximize success rates.

What is Lost-Wax Casting? How Does Casting Pro Replace Wax Patterns?

Traditional lost-wax casting is a precision casting process used in jewelry and dentistry for thousands of years: create wax pattern → invest → burnout the wax → inject molten metal → cool and retrieve the metal piece.

QTS Casting Pro Castable Resin lets you completely replace traditional hand-carved wax patterns with 3D printing. Its wax-filled formula behaves almost identically to traditional wax during burnout — completely vaporizing with ultra-low ash — giving you the precision of digital design while preserving the perfect metal quality of traditional lost-wax casting.

Traditional Wax Pattern

  • Hand-carved, time-consuming
  • Complex geometries difficult to achieve
  • Each piece requires individual crafting
  • Dimensional accuracy limited by skill

Casting Pro 3D Printed Prototype

  • Digital design, precise replication
  • Any complex geometry achievable
  • One-click batch printing of multiple pieces
  • Micron-level dimensional accuracy

Professional Workflow (Strictly Follow for Casting Success)
1

Cleaning

Use 95% alcohol, IPA (isopropyl alcohol), or Magic Wash Plus dedicated cleaning solution in spray form to quickly clean the model surface. Immediately blow dry with an air gun to remove residual resin and alcohol.

2

Post-Curing

Place the cleaned and dried model in a UV post-curing station. Cure for 60 minutes to ensure the model is fully cured with sufficient strength for the subsequent investing process.

3

Investing

Invest the fully cured model with phosphate-based investment material. Follow the investment manufacturer's instructions and ensure the investment is fully set before burnout.

4

Burnout

Follow the recommended burnout schedule below. This schedule applies to most phosphate-based investments; adjust based on your specific equipment and investment material characteristics.

5

Casting

After burnout, while the mold is still hot, inject molten precious metal (gold, platinum, silver, etc.) or dental alloy to ensure complete mold cavity fill.

🚨
CRITICAL WARNING — Washing Time Limit: NEVER soak the model in alcohol for more than 30 seconds! Over-soaking causes the wax components to absorb alcohol, leading to model detail swelling, distortion, or cracking — directly compromising casting accuracy. Always use spray washing and blow dry immediately.
Recommended Burnout Schedule
ℹ️
Recommended Investment: R&R Plasticast with BANDUST. This schedule applies to most phosphate-based investment materials. Adjust based on your specific equipment and investment manufacturer's recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which metals is Casting Pro suitable for?
Casting Pro is suitable for most precious metals and dental alloys in lost-wax casting, including gold (karat gold), platinum, silver, and dental cobalt-chromium alloys. Different metals have different casting temperatures — adjust the post-burnout cooling target temperature according to the metal being used.
Why can't the model be soaked in alcohol for more than 30 seconds?
Casting Pro's wax-filled formula makes it more sensitive to alcohol absorption than standard resins. Prolonged soaking causes the wax components to absorb alcohol and swell, leading to model detail distortion or cracking that severely compromises casting accuracy. Always use spray washing and immediately blow dry with an air gun.
Is the 60-minute post-cure time necessary?
Yes, thorough post-curing is critical for casting success. Incompletely cured models may deform during investing due to the pressure or chemical reactions of the investment material, resulting in inaccurate casting dimensions. The 60-minute post-cure ensures the model reaches optimal strength to withstand the subsequent investing and burnout processes.
Can Casting Pro be used in dental CAD/CAM workflows?
Yes, Casting Pro is fully compatible with modern dental digital workflows. Use an intraoral scanner or desktop scanner to obtain digital models, design crowns, bridges, or frameworks in dental CAD software, print casting prototypes with Casting Pro, then perform traditional lost-wax casting to obtain precise metal restorations.
Does Casting Pro's black color affect casting quality?
No. Casting Pro's black color comes from added pigments that completely vaporize during burnout, leaving no residue and not affecting casting quality. The black color offers the advantage of easier detail inspection during printing, and helps confirm complete post-curing (fully cured models appear uniform deep black, while uncured areas appear lighter).
Safety & Storage
🧤

Personal Protection

Wear gloves, safety goggles, and protective clothing when handling. Wash hands with soap after use.

🌬️

Ventilated Environment

Use in a well-ventilated environment. Ensure proper exhaust ventilation in the burnout furnace area.

🌡️

Storage Conditions

Store sealed at 15~35°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Filter and store separately after use.

♻️

Disposal

Do not pour liquid resin directly. Fully cure waste resin to solid under UV light before disposing as general waste.
